Leo Cusimano
Leo, a New Orleans native, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and attended Southeastern Louisiana University, graduating with a degree in Marketing / Advertising in 1986. While attending SLU, he began a relationship with Tony Cuevas. The couple celebrated 41 years together in September 2022.
Currently Leo is the publisher/owner of Dallas Voice. Leo has been at Dallas Voice for more than 30 years and has served as the Advertising Director for most of that time. Leo is also owner of OUT North Texas, an annual glossy magazine, noted as the premier LGBTQ visitors’ guide of North Texas.
In addition to his work, Leo participates in many community organizations, serving on boards, sponsoring events and chairing meetings. Leo was one of the founders and first Board Chair of the North Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce. Leo was also honored as the Grand Marshal for the Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade. Along with Todd Evans, Leo is the Co-chair of the National LGBT Media Association. Dallas Voice is a founding member of News Is Out, a pioneering national collaborative of the leading local queer news publishers.
Leo and Tony have adopted two kids through the Foster to Adoption program in 2008. Their older child Elijah is 24 and his younger brother Jeff is 19. As a member of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Family Project committee, Leo was able to help build support for the changing make-up of the LGBTQ community. Leo is also the director of the Family PRIDE Zone, an LGBTQ family area for Dallas Pride.
