RACHAEL GONZALES

Rachel Gonzales is an advocate and ally in the movement for transgender equality. As the parent of a transgender youth, she fights to ensure that other parents are able to advocate for their transgender children, and that all transgender people receive the love and support that has allowed her trans daughter to thrive. Rachel has testified many times at the Texas Capitol, has been an integral part of blocking Texas’s anti-transgender bathroom bill in 2017, the many bills proposed in 2021, spent countless days fighting the unprecedented number of anti-transgender bills proposed in the 2023 legislative session and continues to push for trans equality across Texas and around the country. Her background in cultural applied anthropology serves as a foundation in understanding best messaging and effective communication with other families, legislators and the general public. She maintains a local to national media presence and is the State Organizer for the Human Rights Campaign in Texas.
